HR & Corporate Social Responsibility Conference Launched 

'Enlightened HR is the Key to Delivering Successful CSR Strategies' - CIPD

London 20th April 2007: Symposium Events Ltd, a leader in the production of HR conferences, has announced the launch of their HR and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) conference. The organisers are promising this event will show HR, managing directors and internal communications how to use effective CSR policies to deliver HR objectives and the role of HR can play in CSR practice. The event will be taking place at the CBI conference centre, London WC1, on the 28th June.

The CSR concept has become embedded in mainstream organisational strategy in the past few years. It is therefore important that HR understands their role in the CSR programme. According to a recent report from the CIPD, 'Successful CSR programmes depend on building relationships with a range of stakeholders and getting buy-in across the organisation....and enlightened people management practices are the key in delivering this.'

Given the growing overlap between HRM and CSR, it is important that HR take a leading role in both planning and implementing CSR strategies and in turn use CSR to deliver their own HRM objectives.

The HR & CSR conference promises to bring together a panel of expert speakers to examine how to integrate CSR with your HRM strategy, how to use CSR as an effective talent management tool and how other organisations use their HR function to spearhead CSR initiatives. The confirmed speakers for the event are:

• Jane Fiona Cumming - Director, Article 13, speaking on 'The Role of HR in Delivering CSR Initiatives'
• Nick Isles - Director of Advocacy and Marketing, The Work Foundation, speaking on 'HR and CSR at the Heart of Business - Achieving Higher Performance'
• Rob McIvor - Director of HR and Corporate Affairs, Citigroup, speaking on 'HR's Role in CSR Programmes at Citigroup'
• Dr. Steve Boorman - CSR Director, Royal Mail, speaking on 'Where does HR fit in to Royal Mail's CSR policies and can a commitment to CSR build engagement from employees?'
• Ben Stimson - Director of CSR, BSkyB, speaking on 'Inspiring staff and external audiences'
