Health @ Work Summit 2008

Bringing HR, Occupational Health and Health and Safety together to Promote a Healthy Workforce

Wednesday 25th and Thursday 26th June 2008
Millennium Gloucester Hotel, London, SW7 4LH

Summary

Symposium Events' Annual Health @ Work Summit 2008 is firmly established as the UK 's premier conference on health in the workplace. Now in its 3rd year, this seminal event boasts two days of innovative case studies, helping you to establish clear solutions to the challenges that face your organisation with regards to the health and wellbeing of your employees; from the assessment of an employee's health before a problem arises, through to gaining management and employee buy-in for your Health Scheme.

Incorporating details of the latest legislative changes and reports affecting those responsible for health at work, eight comprehensive streams tackling the health challenges that face your organisation on a daily basis and Symposium Events' unique interactive Knowledge Share and Networking session, the Health @ Work Summit 2008 is the definitive event for HR, Health and Safety and Occupational Health professionals.

Background

With attitudes to work-life balance continuing to evolve and current state benefits legislation bringing increasing numbers of UK employees back into the workplace, the pressure on employers to provide a supportive and healthy working environment has never been greater.

According to a recent study by Ipsos MORI, almost ¼ of UK employers are unsure of how to better the health and wellbeing of their employees. This figure is particularly shocking as, according to the Confederation of British Industry, sickness absence costs UK businesses around £ 12.2 billion a year. The research begs the question, what can organisations do to improve the health and wellbeing of their employees?

Dame Carol Black's Call for Evidence report, which is due to be published in the next couple of months, is expected to be the first step towards a clearer understanding of the health of Britain's working age population, but the responsibility of responding to this evidence still lies in the hands of employers.

Symposium Events' 3rd annual Health @ Work Summit 2008 will provide you with the necessary tools to tackle the health and wellbeing challenges that face your organisation and help you develop a united front internally, to provide efficient, cost-effective and sustainable support to each and every one of your employees.
