The changes in the tax treatment of employer funded childcare, announced by the Government in early 2004, represented the most significant development in this area for over fifteen years.

Daycare Trust organised this important, practical and informative one-day conference to assess the impact of the new tax exemptions for employer funded childcare (effective from April 2005) and to explore how employers should respond to the new childcare landscape.

Topics covered included: ·

  • Government childcare strategy - encouraging an expanded role for employers;
  • Practical childcare options - choices now available to employers of all sizes;
  • The business case - for employer involvement in childcare;
  • New childcare tax exemptions - outlined by the Inland Revenue Policy Advisor leading the review;
  • Salary sacrifice schemes - a practical guide to setting up schemes to comply with the new childcare tax exemptions;
  • Help for employers - from a variety of government agencies;
  • Childcare vouchers and e-vouchers - a detailed look at existing and innovative new childcare voucher schemes;
  • Childcare and HR strategy - case study on integrating childcare into a HR strategy;
  • Payroll management - case study on the impact of childcare and salary sacrifice schemes.

The forum took place on Tuesday 30th November 2004 at the InterContinental Hotel, Hyde Park Corner, London.
