Lawrence Hutter leads the European Consumer Business practice at Deloitte. Lawrence focuses on strategies for growth, improved profitability, trade account development and end-to-end value chain optimization. He is one of the World's most successful practitioners in the use of technology solutions as a platform for pan-European and global business restructuring and as a catalyst for real business transformation.

 

Daniel JonesProfessor Daniel Jones:
Chairman, Lean Enterprise Academy

The main thrust of Professor Jones's work has been to develop and help to implement the Lean Business System. Based on Lean Thinking principles learnt from Toyota, this starts by defining customer value, which then leads to the reorganisation of every step required to design, order, build, deliver and maintain this value across all the organisations involved. As a result firms can do more with less, respond more quickly to customer needs, create more rewarding jobs for employees and reduce their impact on the environment. The results of Lean Thinking can now be seen in every sector and across the globe.

 

Neil GriffithsNeil M Griffiths:
Chairman, SOFHT and
Managing Director, LawLabs


Neil Griffiths is a Chartered Chemist, Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry and Fellow of the Institute of Food Science and Technology. He holds the Mastership in Chemical Analysis and for 9 years worked for the Enforcement Authorities in Birmingham, UK. He then held the position of Chief Technical Officer for the Meat and Livestock Commission. In 1987 he established LawLabs, and as Chief Executive, oversees 160 professionals. LawLabs now works internationally supporting the consumer product industry providing legal, technical and analytical services ("One Stop Shop"). He is also Chairman of The Society of Food Hygiene Technology

 

Nigel MontgomeryNigel Montgomery:
Director, European Research, AMR

Nigel has over twenty-seven years of extensive, hands-on experience in the application software and automotive manufacturing industries. His experience includes International sales & service, International product development, systems analysis & programming, manufacturing & finance, International product marketing, pre/post sales support, and International channel management.
Nigel's core industry background stems from 14 years of experience in all aspects of manufacturing at Rover Cars plc. Following several production control management roles including management of new vehicle development, he spent four years as Systems Manager for Rover Cars Southern Operations, overseeing application development and systems management for all vehicle assembly and logistics operations. Nigel speaks frequently at industry trade conferences, user group meetings, and executive conferences.
He is widely quoted in leading business and industry trade publications.

 

Amanda AtkinsonAmanda Atkinson:
Corporate Law Associate,
Eversheds LLP


Amanda is an Associate with Eversheds LLP's having qualified into their corporate department in September 1998. Amanda specialises in mainstream corporate transactions including mergers, acquisitions, takeovers, disposals, investments, joint ventures and reorganisations, working heavily with companies within the food and retail sectors including Asda, Greencore Group and McCain Foods. Amanda also has a lot of international transaction experience some of which was obtained whilst Amanda was on secondment with Khattar Wong & Partners, Eversheds' associated office, in Singapore. Amanda was central to the Eversheds team on the ground breaking collaboration agreement between Asda and Geest.

 

Mike Snell Mike Snell, Business and Development Director, Asda

Mike Snell, ASDA's Director of Sourcing & Development. He has worked in a variety of operational and commercial roles in both the food and non-food sides of the business, and has considerable experience of managing supplier relationships through good times and bad.
In the summer of 2004, after the completing of a 5 year supply agreement for all of ASDA's fresh produce requirements, Mike was asked to head up the Sourcing and Development team. His remit is to formulate and implement the relevant supply strategies, and to deliver future growth and competitive advantage on goods and services purchased by ASDA.

 

Stephen HoldingStephen Holding, Business Director, Geest

Stephen's background prior to Geest is 7 years experience in sales and account management, working in both chilled and ambient food markets supplying retail and foodservice customers. Stephen joined Geest in 1993 as Sales Manager based on the Geest Spalding site. He then moved onto to become General Manager for Geest's Soup and Sauce business, before being promoted to General Manager for two businesses supplying Asda, English Village Salads and Yorkshire Fresh Salads. In 2003 Stephen was promoted to the position of Business Director, which gave him the additional responsibility of managing the Asda business for the whole Geest group, focussing on new business development. Stephen has now added to his responsibility the newly formed business International Produce, which is the collaboration project being discussed today.

 

Rodger SeamanRodger Seaman, National Account Manager, Ilchester Cheese Company

Rodger joined Ilchester in 2000. He currently manages an account portfolio of multiples, convenience retailers & wholesalers throughout the UK - including Tesco, Sainsburys & Budgens. His other responsibilities include the implementation of Ilchester's PR, trade & consumer campaigns and the development of strategic B2B partnerships within the cheese industry.
Prior to joining Ilchester, Rodger spent a number of years in both operational & sales roles within the food industry. Previous commercial experience has been gained with RHM & Albert Fisher Food Group. Rodger is married with 3 gorgeous children (& a very understanding wife!) who keep him focused on the really important things in life.

 

Jonathon BayneJonathon Bayne, Technical & regulatory Affairs Controller, Budgens Stores Ltd

Jonathon Bayne is a Food Technologist and manages the overall function of the Technical Services Department. His principal responsibilities include the management of the safety; quality and legality of all Budgens own label products, as well as the development of appropriate technical policies, including food labelling. His role also brings him into direct contact with both, Local Government and Central Government Departments (FSA, DEFRA & DoH) and Non Governmental Organisations. Externally, he is a Council Member/Director of The Society of Food Hygiene Technology. Prior to joining Budgens, Jonathon was Senior Food Technologist with Asda. He is currently undertaking a PhD part-time at the DeMonfort University in Leicester.

 

Peter McLane, Managing Director, Indigo Software

Peter McLane Peter McLane is the Managing Director for Indigo Software and has been working with food and drink manufacturers and retailers on their supply chain collaboration challenges for over 20 years. Indigo's customers include Greencore group, RHM, Dairy Crest, McCormick and Greene King with solutions including Planning, Forecasting and Scheduling (APS) , Warehouse Management and ERP. Peter is able to relate at first hand some of the challenges which a number of leading food and beverage clients are facing and express them in terms which can assist a food enterprise plot out its future development of software technologies.

Chris Jackson, Group Technical & NPD Director, Young's Bluecrest Ltd

Chris Jackson joined Young's Bluecrest Seafoods in 2002 as Group Technical and NPD Director. He previously worked for Findus Limited in the UK and Sweden and for Nestle in the UK and America delivering technical, innovation and product development functions. Chris has over 20 years experience within the food and retail, and holds degrees in Agricultural Zoology and Entomology.
