Total Conflict Management, (TCM) the UK’s leading workplace mediation specialists, were experienced in running training events, but wanted to organise a major B2B conference to raise the profile of mediation and conflict resolution among their customer base. TCM needed logistical and marketing support to add value to the core concept of an event the firm had wanted to organise for some time.
Symposium was asked to identify key issues and recruit expert speakers to build on the core theme, identified by TCM. In addition, Symposium put together a major marketing programme which included two direct mail shots to 20,000 potential delegates, email marketing, public relations and advertising campaigns. Additional sales activities targeted potential sponsors and exhibitors.
All aspects of speaker, exhibitor and delegate management were handled by Symposium, from invoicing and payment processing to checking that presentations worked with the projectors and that exhibition stands were correctly located.
On the day, Symposium staff handled registrations for over 150 delegates and co-ordinated suppliers and venue to ensure a smooth an trouble free day.
Feedback from delegates was highly positive. TCM gained significant exposure, sales leads and media interest and following the event, David Liddle, Director of TCM commented:
“Thank you for all your hard work and contribution to making the dispute resolution conference such a fantastic success. Feedback that I have been getting has been very positive and people have commented on how well the event was organised. I have no doubt that the combination of your efforts, vision, creativity and patience has really helped to put TCM and workplace mediation firmly on the map. I didn’t realise how much effort goes into setting up and running an event of that size – you have actually taught me a hell of a lot!!”

5RB, a leading set of barristers specialising in media and entertainment law, have used SymposiumLive to co-ordinate their industry-leading conferences since 2006. They had significant in-house resources, but needed additional manpower to undertake certain tasks. SymposiumLive was able to felxibly design a package of support to suit 5RB’s precise needs.
5RB had internal resources to define the key issues in media and entertainment law, select and invite speakers. Symposium provided services such as venue search and management, bookings processing, marketing support and conference logistics.
Symposium supported 5RB’s in-house event marketing. A database of potential delegates was established and direct mail and email campaign materials developed. A bespoke, 5RB branded booking facility was established on Symposiums’s website to enable online booking and Symposium staff handled calls on a “Booking Hotline”.
Symposium identified the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) building in Piccadilly, London, as the right setting to hold the conference. It was close to London’s legal district, as many of the delegates were law professionals – and it reflected the hight quality, entertainment focused, 5RB brand.
On the day, Symposium Staff were on hand to manage the venue and deal with the logistics involved in registering and meeting the needs of 120 paying delegates. The conference ran smoothly and attendees left well informed, both about 5RB and the key contemporary legal issues in media and entertainment law. Excellent feedback was received from delegates who enjoyed the day and felt it was a well-managed, worthwhile event.
“We already had individuals within the business who could design the programme and speak with authority on the major issues. We also had our own design and marketing functions. Symposium were the ideal choice for us because they meshed well with our own team, offering us a package that provided only the elements we needed. Those we especially benefited from were venue search / selection, bookings management and on-site production.”
